View Full Version : Newbie FS 2002/04 question

I am finally getting a decent spec PC from work and want to run
FS2002/04.
I have never played any of the FS games (played Falcon 4.0 a lot a few
years ago).
A few questions
When flying say from London Heathrow to Paris CDG, where does the
aircraft start? At the gate, taxi way, runway??? Do you have to
request engine start and go through start up sequences? If at the
gate do you get a push back? How detailed are the airports -
buildings etc. or do you need the addons for more detail? Basically
I'm asking how realistic is it?
Thanks in advance
Mark

When you set up the flight, you can choose to start at any gate, or any
runway, or the active runway based on winds.

By default, engines are running at start. Shut down engines and save the
flight as default to start up "engines off" next time. Ctrl-E to auto-start
or most planes you can start by sequence.

Shift-P

FS2004 adds taxiway signs which greatly improves orientation. Buildnig
locations are generally accurate but generic in appearance. Add-ons add
photorealistic buildings and scenery, plus details such as baggage trams,
service vehicles and real-world liveries.

both 2k2 and 2k4 let you chose where you wanna start the trip
Do you have to

There is a checklist for start take off etc. During t/o there is no
interaction with ATC (for both 2k2 and 2k4)
If at the

yes, but no vehicle to push, shift p moves you back slowly
How detailed are the airports -
the big ones are pretty detailed. All airports have the right rwy's and
nav/com/ils frequencies etc, the major airports have realisticly
moddeled buildings. In 2k4 there are even taxisigns

2k4 has a better ATC, nicer weather and clouds and a better gps than 2k2.
Im happy flying 2k4, but likes 2l2 also
